YHC hosts Battle of Blood Mountain
Young Harris, GA (11/06/2025) — Young Harris College is welcoming back alumni for Homecoming, Saturday, Nov. 15, as the men's basketball team squares off with the University of North Georgia for the Battle of Blood Mountain rivalry.
The 5 p.m. game will culminate a week of activity on campus for current students, plus a weekend of activity for students, alumni, and the community.
"The Battle of Blood Mountain is a classic matchup between Young Harris College and the University of North Georgia," said Aaron Bessey, Athletic Director at YHC. "It's the perfect way to celebrate with our Mountain Lion family and the local community."
The day will begin with a Presidential Wall of Honor Reception celebrating some of YHC's most successful young alumni, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on the Admissions Balcony of the Rollins Campus Center. This year's recipients are Nikki McDermott, '16, Parker Sewell, '17, Kenneth Boykin, '18, Emma Brown, '18, and Durham Harris, '16.
An Alumni and Student Social will follow in front of Enotah Hall from 2 to 4:45 p.m. There will be live music, giveaways, spirit gear, games, a chili bar, bratwurst bar, apple cider, fall treats, lawn activities, and more. The Alumni Association will also welcome the Class of 2026 as new members during a special reception Saturday afternoon.
"Homecoming is a great opportunity to bring students and alumni together," said Director of Alumni Engagement Dana Ensley, '97. "We truly enjoy hosting these gatherings where people can reconnect with the College, rekindle friendships, and form new connections."
The celebration will continue in HARP Recreation Center with the 5 p.m. basketball game. In addition to cheering on the Mountain Lions, YHC will celebrate the 2025 Homecoming Court, crown the YHC Homecoming King and Queen, and recognize the Wall of Honor recipients and returning basketball alumni during halftime.
