YHC hosts annual Community Resource Fair
CORRECTION: The event is Aug. 21, Thursday, not Aug. 22. Apologies for the error.
Young Harris, GA (07/24/2025) — In mid-August, as the fall semester roars to life at Young Harris College, more than 1,000 students will be roaming the campus. Many of them are new to the Enchanted Valley and surrounding areas, representing 27 states and 33 countries.
Each year Young Harris College hosts a Community Resource Fair as a way to introduce the students to the Young Harris area and surrounding towns and cities. Businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations will be at the Fair to connect with the students and let them know what the area offers.
"We basically have more than 1,000 newcomers to the area each fall, so we want to try to introduce them to what's here," said Meridith Davis, director of career and professional development. Davis also chairs the committee that organizes the Fair each year. "Whether it's showing the students where the restaurants are, or the local churches, or helping them find somewhere to volunteer, the Fair is a great way to meet the community."
This year's Community Resource Fair is Aug. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Rollins Campus Center at YHC.
"If a local business is interested in participating, they can go online to our registration form and sign up," Davis said. "Space is limited, so we encourage folks to sign up quickly."
Go to https://bit.ly/yhccrfair to sign up. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. on Aug. 14.
