Civil rights lawyer of the year, former head of Georgia NAACP speaks at Young Harris College
Young Harris, GA (01/09/2024) — Rev. Dr. Francys Johnson is a pastor, educator, award-winning civil and criminal lawyer, and activist, will be speaking Friday, Jan. 12, at Young Harris College at the College's annual MLK Luncheon.
The luncheon is at noon in Suber Hall in the Rollins Campus Center at Young Harris College.
Johnson was the 2018 Democratic Nominee for Georgia's 12th Congressional District, the former head of the Georgia NAACP, a TEDx UGA speaker, and was named the Georgia Civil Rights Lawyer of the Year in 2022. A graduate of Georgia Southern University and The University of Georgia School of Law, Johnson previously served on the Political Science and Criminal Justice faculties at Georgia Southern University and Savannah State University teaching courses on criminal law; Constitutional law; race and the law; and the Civil Rights Movement.
