Pink Floyd opens season at the YHC Planetarium
Young Harris, GA (01/15/2026) — The 2026 season at Young Harris College's O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium opens in January with a fan favorite - Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon: 50 Years in a Heartbeat."
Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon: 50 Years in a Heartbeat: Friday, Jan. 30 @ 8 p.m.
Floyd's iconic album "The Dark Side Of The Moon" was originally released in March 1973. With the help of modern technology, this planetarium show combines breathtaking views of the solar system, played out to 42 minutes of The Dark Side Of The Moon in surround sound. NSC Creative worked closely with Pink Floyd's long-time creative collaborator, Aubrey Powell from Hipgnosis, to create the visual production.
Each song has a different theme; some futuristically looking forward, with others a retro acknowledgment to Pink Floyd's visual history, all relating to a time and space experience. An immersive and all-encompassing surround sound and visual treat designed to transcend reality and take viewers way beyond the realms of reality.
O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium features shows for the general public on select Friday evenings. Tickets for shows can be purchased at the door with cash or check. Tickets can also be purchased online via Eventbrite by visiting the following link: https://www.yhc.edu/community/planetarium/
Purchasing tickets online in advance is recommended, since planetarium shows often sell out. Observatory open houses do not require tickets.
For planetarium shows, guests are encouraged to arrive early for the best seats. Public planetarium shows, with the exception of Cosmic Concerts, include a live-narrated "season stargazing" segment in addition to the featured full-dome program.
